Geraldine Bright Obituary

Geraldine Bright

March 19, 1955 - February 19, 2026

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die.  Ecc. 3KJV

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, at The Crossing of Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge, LA, Geraldine bade farewell to this ole world and went home to be with the Lord. No more cares of concern, she is now resting peacefully in the Master’s arms.

Geraldine, affectionately known as Dino, was born in New Orleans, LA on March 19, 1955, to the marital union of Victor Bright, Sr., and Gertrude Bright. As a native of Reserve, LA she received both her primary and secondary education through the St. John the Baptist School System.

Geraldine’s walk with God began at an early age. She was baptized by Rev. Ernest Taylor, Sr. of Greater New Plymouth Rock Baptist Church.

Geraldine was a woman of strong resolution. She was resilient and committed once she made a decision: oftentimes unrelenting. Geraldine’s latest, unwavering focus, was being reunited with family in the presence of the Lord. Our merciful God granted this request to Geraldine. Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Jarvis Bright; in addition to five siblings, Ulysses Bright Senior (Joann), Sylvia James, Dianne Johnson, Lori Reid (Henry), and Mary Lee Nelson.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Bright, Sr., Gertrude Bright and her stepmother Dorothy Bright. She was also preceded in death by nine siblings: Betty Devare, Willa Mae Cureaux, Barbara Mitchell, Shirley Woodland, Peggy Hawkins, Gwendolyn Junior, Herman Bright, Glenn Junior, and Victor Bright Junior.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home, 605 Main Street, Laplace, LA 70068. Visitation 10:00am until the time of service at the above-named location. Interment will be private.
